When you live your life on the road, it can be very easy to fall into an unhealthy lifestyle. This is the case when it comes to most truck drivers. Being on the road for weeks at a time can take a toll on one’s health. The lack of exercise, sleep and access to a balanced diet are all common health hazards for truckers.

Taking care of your health is not only important for your well being. It is also important for a successful career in the trucking industry.

Here are some tips every trucker should take into consideration while traveling on the road.

Eat Healthy

Although it may be more convenient to eat fast food or grab something quick at a gas station. Try stopping at a grocery store and picking up some fresh fruits and veggies. Some other healthy options are protein bars, dried fruits, nuts, and make sure to drink plenty of water. If your truck has an Auxiliary Power Unit or power inverter look into getting a portable stove, crock pot, or microwave. This will make eating healthy much easier and it also helps save money!

Exercise

Finding the time to exercise can be quite a challenge when you spend 10 or more hours a day driving. Finding a little time to exercise each day can improve your physical and mental health.

Workout in your cabin- Setting up a workout routine to do in your cabin is a convenient way to keep yourself healthy. You don’t even need workout equipment. Find time to implement these workouts in your daily routine.
