The Best New Year’s Resolutions for Truck Drivers

The year 2020 is coming to a close. The end of the year is a great time to reflect on your life and think about the changes you would like to make for the new year. For truck drivers, New Year’s resolutions may be hard to follow through because of their work schedule and constantly being on the road. But that does not mean drivers can’t set goals and follow them throughout the year. We created a list of New Year’s resolutions specifically for truck drivers. Check it out below!

Eat healthier

Eating healthy is one of the more common New Year’s resolutions. The new year is a great time to evaluate what you are eating and figure out how you can make changes to have a healthier diet. For truck drivers, eating healthy is a lot more challenging. Drivers have less access to healthy meal options. For the new year, make it a goal to start bringing healthy meals on the road and avoid fast food restaurants when you can.

Tips for eating healthier

  • Avoid fried food
  • Include more fruits and vegetables
  • Buy whole-grain bread instead of refined bread
  • Drink more water
  • Keep healthy snacks in your truck.

Start exercising

Exercising daily has many health benefits. Many truck drivers struggle with their mental and physical health. Including an exercise routine into your life on the road is a great New Year’s resolution and a great way to live an overall healthy lifestyle.

Finding time to exercise can be difficult. With the amount of time drivers spend on the road, it leaves little to no time for exercise. Sparing 15-30 minutes each day for exercise will help control weight, reduce the risk of high blood pressure, and increase energy levels.

Clean out your truck

A clean and well-organized truck makes life on the road much more comfortable and stress-free. The new year is a great time to go through your truck and get rid of things that are no longer useful and taking up space. Drivers know that the space in their truck is limited. So, make it a New Year’s resolution to free up some space in your cab for the new year.

It requires a plan and self-discipline, but it is a good feeling to know exactly how much you are spending and where your money is going. Once you get the hang of budgeting, it will become easy and it will no longer feel like you are restrained from your finances.
