Operation Safe Driver Week will take place July 11th-17th. The focus of Safe Driver Week this year is speeding. This is the second year in a row that the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) scheduled speeding as the focus of Safe Driver Week. Last year, the number of on-the-road deaths increased, despite less travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The CVSA chose to repeat the focus to make clear the importance of safe driving
In addition to speeding, the CVSA chose a secondary focus – unsafe driving behavior. Law enforcement will be tracking dangerous driving behavior such as, failure to use a seatbelt, driving under the influence, improper lane change, reckless or aggressive driving.
CVSA – in partnership with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), state, provincial and local law enforcement, and industry – launched the Operation Safe Driver campaign in 2007 to reduce the number of deaths and injuries resulting from crashes involving large trucks, buses and cars.
